Photographic Empowerment

Today, digital media and the Internet are putting the power to take and distribute images in the hands of people literally in a way never before possible, offering glimpses of lives and perspectives we might not otherwise see. Whether called citizen-based journalism, pluralist photography or participant-produced documentary work, this burgeoning movement is giving voice to many who have been traditionally disenfranchised, allowing them to share their own stories rather than relying solely on outsiders to communicate on their behalf.
