Well-known as a best-selling author, public interest lawyer, academic administrator, government official, distinguished professor, and Emmy Award-winning producer, CCLP director Geoffrey Cowan is also a notable playwright who will be honored by LA Theatre Works to celebrate their decades-long collaboration. Theatre Works (LATW) returns to China in June, 2013 with CCLP director Geoffrey Cowan's riveting historical drama, Top Secret: The Battle for The Pentagon Papers. LATW toured China with Top Secret in 2011, playing to sold out houses of Chinese professionals and students. Watch Geoffrey Cowan – The Play Top Secret in China

Watch CCLP Director Geoffrey Cowan lead a lecture on his award winning play, "Top Secret" recently published on YouTube February 28th, 2012. The play won the Corporation for Public Broadcasting's Gold Medal for Excellence in Best Live Entertainment and was recently performed in Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shanghai before packed auditoriums. In some instances Cowan, and the play's producer, director, and performers were able to talk with audiences about the issued addressed in the play. Cowan’s play on press freedom completes tour in China

Top Secret: The Battle for the Pentagon Papers, a docu-drama co-written by CCLP director Geoffrey Cowan and the late Leroy Aarons, was performed in China in November and December 2011. The L.A. Theatre Works production was performed in Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangzhou. The tour was sponsored by the U.S. Embassy and the USC Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism. Top Secret was last presented during a successful Off-Broadway run at New York Theatre Workshop in 2010. This China production of Top Secret was directed by award-winning director Stephen Sachs. Bennis comments on WaPo’s Top Secret America Investigation

This week, the Washington Post released an extensive two-year investigative report entitled Top Secret America. This report, led by Dana Priest and William M. Arkin examines the US infrastructure of national security and intelligence. The "system so big, so complex and so hard to manage, no one really knows if it's fulfilling its most important purpose: keeping its citizens safe," according to the release. Cowan Top Secret Play to air on KPCC and NPR

Top Secret: The Battle for the Pentagon Papers written by CCLP Director Geoffrey Cowan aired air on Saturday, July 2 on 89.3 KPCC. Top Secret can also be heard on the LA Theatre Works wesbite, under the "Radio Theatre Series" page. It will also be airing nationally on the NPR stations listed on that page.
