The USC Annenberg Center on Communication Leadership & Policy (CCLP) is pleased to welcome political speechwriter and strategist Dan Schwerin as its newest Senior Fellow. Schwerin was the principal collaborator on Hillary Clinton’s two most recent bestselling memoirs, Hard Choices (2014) and What Happened (2017) and served as the Director of Speechwriting for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign. He joins a distinguished cohort of CCLP Senior Fellows who are at the forefront of political communication, public diplomacy, and international relations.
“As a talented writer who has been at the center of major domestic and international battles in politics and corporate affairs, Dan will provide CCLP and our students with valuable insights and skills,” said CCLP Director Geoffrey Cowan.
Schwerin traveled the globe with the U.S. State Department and wrote op-eds and speeches on topics from the Arab Spring to global health. His articles have appeared in publications such as Vogue and The Washington Post. During the fall, Schwerin taught speechwriting and served as as a Fellow at the USC Dornsife Center for the Political Future.
He recently co-founded the Evergreen Strategy Group, which provides speechwriting, strategic advice, and communications services to companies facing diverse and complex policy challenges.
