The White House Chronicle podcast, hosted by Llewellyn King, welcomed CCLP Director Geoffrey Cowan on March 28, 2025 for a conversation about Voice of America’s recent shutdown. With President Trump’s recent executive order defunding the Voice of America (VOA), the group discussed how VOA reporters, alongside some unions, have filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Agency for Global Media and Kari Lake. They also delved into the dire consequences of this development, especially because of VOA’s historical widespread impact on journalism and media internationally.

Geoffrey Cowan was the director of VOA from 1994 to 1996 under the Clinton Administration. The White House Chronicle podcast is regularly co-hosted by CCLP Senior Fellow Adam Clayton Powell III.
