Dan Schwerin is a political speechwriter and strategist. Between his role as the Director of Speechwriting for Secretary Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential bid and principal collaborator on her two most recent bestselling memoirs Hard Choices (2014) and What Happened (2017), Schwerin has crafted some of the most important Democratic messaging in the last decade. In 2018, he partnered with Clinton’s Communications Director Nick Merrill to found the Evergreen Strategy Group, which provides speechwriting, strategic advice, and communication services to companies facing diverse and complex policy challenges.
As one of Washington’s most sought-after writers, Schwerin has traveled the globe with the U.S. State Department, penning op-eds and speeches on topics from the Arab Spring to global health. His articles have also appeared in publications such as Vogue and The Washington Post. He has since taught his craft as a Fellow at the USC Dornsife Center for the Political Future and as a lecturer at the George Washington University Graduate School of Political Management.
Schwerin received his B.A. from Northwestern University in American Studies.
