Justin ChapmanJustin Chapman¬†was CCLP’s Project Fellow from December 2014 to April 2016. He managed CCLP’s website, wrote¬†articles for its blog, conducted research for its academic reports, and supported its senior, faculty, and visiting fellows with research on their various projects. He was the Research Manager and co-author of CCLP’s report on open data, entitled Empowering the Public through Open Data: Findings and Recommendations for City Leaders in Los Angeles County.

Justin is an author, journalist, travel writer, actor, musician, and politician. Justin was the youngest elected member of the Altadena Town Council at age 19. He graduated from University of California, Berkeley in 2009 and has written for over 20 publications. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Diplomacy at USC and works as a Communications Associate at the Pacific Council on International Policy.

An avid soccer player, Justin also enjoys snowboarding and golfing. He serves as president of the non-profit Men Educating Men About Health and as secretary of the West Pasadena Residents’ Association. He is a member of the LA Press Club and the LA World Affairs Council. His first book about his travels through Africa, Saturnalia: Traveling from Cape Town to Kampala in Search of an African Utopia, was published in January 2015 by Rare Bird Books. As a professional child actor he performed in dozens of commercials, television shows, and movies. He lives with his wife Mercedes in Pasadena, CA, with their dogs Fiona and Nico, cats Mason and Dixon, and California desert tortoise Stockton.
