Demme Durrett

Geoffrey Cowan Scholar

A proud Texan turned New Yorker (and now Angeleno!), Demme is thrilled to build upon her interest in public relations and diplomacy by gaining expertise as a Cowan Scholar. Fascinated by the intersections of politics and fashion, Demme is a 2019 Phi Beta Kappa inductee and magna cum laude graduate form Columbia University, Barnard College, where she studied American Studies and Human Rights. Demme’s current work lies between the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, where she handles large-scale diplomatic events, and putting on events for her nonprofit dedicated to universal human rights education through youth activism. She is a graduate student in USC Annenberg’s Public Diplomacy program. In her free time, you can find Demme museum-hopping, shooting hoops, or grabbing a matcha.

Amelia Pradilla

Geoffrey Cowan Scholar

Amelia Pradilla is a master’s student in Global Media and Communications, a double-degree program between the University of Southern California and the London School of Economics. After her first year in London, Amelia moved to L.A. to finish her studies, where she became a Cowan Scholar. Before pursuing her graduate studies and after graduating from her bachelor’s degrees in art history and economics, Amelia worked for over four years in Bogota, her hometown. First, in the art world in Galeria El Museo, an art gallery for modern and contemporary Latin-American art. And for the last two years she joined McKinsey & Company as a generalist consultant. Aside from her studies, Amelia is a certificated yoga instructor, who enjoys reading and exploring the local art scene.

Sarah Nehemiah

Geoffrey Cowan Scholar

Sarah Nehemiah is a graduate student at the University of Southern California studying Global Media and Communications. After completing the first year of her graduate degree at the London School of Economics (LSE), Sarah has returned to her alma mater as a Cowan Scholar at the USC Annenberg Center on Communication and Leadership Policy. She previously worked in political consulting and polling in New York following her graduation from USC in 2019. Sarah is currently an Assistant Editor for the USC Annenberg International Journal of Communication and is thrilled to be back in her home state of California. In her free time, Sarah enjoys all things pop culture and fashion, as well as golfing, reading, traveling, and exploring the LA food scene.
