Sarah Mojarad is a Visiting Fellow at USC Annenberg’s Center on Communication Leadership & Policy (CCLP). She has expertise in social media, science communication, misinformation, and disinformation. She regularly conducts workshops on misinformation and disinformation for USC’s Election Cybersecurity Initiative.
Before her CCLP role, she held faculty appointments at USC Viterbi School of Engineering and Keck School of Medicine. She was also a lecturer at the California Institute of Technology prior to joining USC.
Sarah is a recognized speaker, having presented talks and seminars at scientific meetings and universities around the world. As a 2020 and 2022 Kavli Fellow, she helped organize the US Kavli Frontiers Symposia and its sessions on Science Communication and Misinformation, Disinformation, Polarization, and Social Media, respectively. In addition, her workshops have been funded by the Department of Energy and the National Institutes of Health.
Sarah has been quoted by Becker’s Hospital Review, CNBC, the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times, and CNN. In 2017, her commentary on social media pseudoscience was published in Science.
She holds a BA in Psychology from Boston University and an MS in Corporate and Organizational Communication from Northeastern University, blending these fields to enhance her expertise in digital communication.
